How Low Can Rates Go?
Recent rate cuts have lowered rates to their lowest level in
decades! In fact, rates have not been this low since the late 60's! However, once the dollar begins
to stabilize in the world market, interest rates
are expected to begin their upswing. A "wait and see" approach to buying
real estate will likely cost you more in the long run. These rates are great for
buyers, providing you've got good credit and have money to put down.
Why It's Not Good To Wait:
2010 has continued with low housing prices and record low finance rates, which has never
before happened at the same time! It isn't good to wait for housing prices to fall even further
because a mere 1/2 point increase in your rate could wipe out a 10% drop in what
you would pay for your new home *
The Best Buyers Market In Years:
These historically low rates are
expected to rise as 2011 approaches, but current rates simply cannot
go much lower, if at all. Couple that with near record high home inventories and low prices, and
it's like the "perfect storm" for home buyers. But you do need to get
that pre-approval letter from your lender. In this market, very few experienced
real estate agents will
show homes without it.
The 2010 Market Outlook:
Inventory levels in 2010 are still at the highest in
years. This means home prices will begin as low as they are right now, but
odds are they won't go much lower, if at all. Banks have money to lend, home
prices are low and rates are still at or near historic lows. As the 2010 spring market
progresses into summer, inventories should begin to drop. This should start the
beginning of an upswing in mortgage rates and a drop in inventory levels. These
two factors may begin the long-awaited uptick in home prices. By purchasing
a home soon, the equity you could earn in just a few short years
can be astounding! It's like the old stock market adage, "Buy Low, Sell High". The bottom line is that if you really want to
take the step into home ownership, and your credit is good and you've got money to
put down, there has never been a
better time than right now!
